NGSS: Three Dimensional Learning
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are K–12 science content standards developed by states to improve science education, focusing on enabling students to “do” science rather than just memorize facts. They are built on a three-dimensional framework—Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts—to foster deeper understanding, critical thinking, and career readiness.
