DETAILS

In 2001, Native American Bank was established by 20 Tribal nations and Alaska Native Corporations seeking to create a national bank serving all Native people, communities, governments, and enterprises across the country.

Over the past five years, Native American Bank has made loans totaling $128 million to support projects with Native entrepreneurs, Tribes, Tribal Housing Authorities, and Alaska Native Corporations. Most financing has focused on economic development on Tribal lands, including construction of 1.1 million square feet of new facilities.

Native American Bank leverages several guarantee programs including from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and United States Department of Agriculture and is experienced working with Tribal and other private sector lending partners (including banks and CDFIs) on larger and more complex transactions.

Native American Bank has financed several community facilities on- and off-reservation. While schools have not been a core focus, Native American Bank will consider funding school facility projects.
